Rednock School tops out

25/09/2008

Mace Group was joined by over 80 guests on Friday 19th September to celebrate the topping out ceremony for the new Rednock School BSF One School Pathfinder in Dursley, Gloucester. Amongst the attendees were staff from Gloucester County Council including the Mayor and members of the school governing body.

Mace is providing project management, cost consultancy and CDMC services for the £30m project. The school has been designed to be transformational in design, embracing new ways of teaching in both formal and informal environments.

The new building includes three pods one of which will contain an extensive learning resource centre. Other features of the school include non symmetrical staircases and support pillars, a scenic lift, ETFE roofs to the atria in each wing of the building and an international standard all weather football pitch.

Rednock school has received grants from the carbon neutral and Faraday funds and has aspirations of achieving a zero carbon footprint. In support of this, the project includes a wind turbine, photovoltaic panels, a sustainable drainage system, rainwater harvesting, sedam roof and natural light and ventilation systems.
