Mace triumphs at Construction Excellence awards

Mace and Mace Plus have won regional Constructing Excellence awards, the former in the sustainability category for Elizabeth II Court for Hampshire County Council and the latter for health and safety.

On the Elizabeth II Court win, Mace associate director Nigel Thomas said: "It is immensely rewarding to be recognised for leading an enlightened and innovative team and to be recognised for the services we provided to achieve a sustainable solution. It sets a new benchmark for other similar projects and a challenge for clients, designers and contractors working with the hundreds of tired and dilapidated office blocks all over the country."

This is the latest in a long line of awards for the project has won including, the regional sustainability award at the RICS 2010 awards and the refurbished/recycled workspace above 2,000 square metres category at the BCO regional awards.

The Mace Plus entry, outlined the company's commitment to improving health and safety and project performances through a range of initiatives implemented by a "safety taskforce" and a culture of performance improvement. Managing director Mark Castle said: "Our commitment to improving the competency of our staff and on site workforce through continual training and behavioural management has resulted in another year of excellent performance, and we are proud to be the recipient of this year's award."

All winners will go through to the National Constructing Excellence awards in November 2010, where they will compete against the winners from the other nine regional awards.
