Mace Business School reports on industry lead times: Apr - Jun 2009

03/07/2009

Director for the Mace Business School Brian Moone reports that for the second consecutive quarter there have been no increases in lead times and the number of companies reporting a reduction in their lead times has increased to six. Most contractors are reporting a reduction in their secured workload as well as their enquiries. The good news for clients is that the historical data suggests they may fall further yet,

In his quarterly 'lead times' feature for Building magazine he also comments: " Although it may appear that many of the companies have levelled out at their lowest lead times the historic data indicates that these can fall further, although it is important to be aware that they may have become longer to accommodate more onerous requirements relating to legislation, Health and Safety and so on. There is also increasing pressure for a greater level of offsite manufacture and preassembly, which may also extend lead times."

The Mace Business School performs data capture and analysis in association with its clients. For further information visit the Mace Business School's Foresite.
