Sectors
Mace Group has an exemplary record in the education sector. We are involved in the full spectrum of education facilities, from primary schools to academies, secondary schools to universities and have worked on some of the largest and most prestigious projects within the education sector. Our portfolio of completed projects throughout the UK is impressive.
We offer a full range of integrated services to the education sector, including programme management, project management, education consultancy (through our joint venture, Place Group), design, cost consultancy and construction delivery.
Successful examples of our work span from pre-school to post graduate and range from state-of-the-art biomedical research laboratories to children's centres; from individual learning and technology centres to complete new campus developments.

Primary Schools and the Primary Capital Programme
We have a unique strategic view on the Primary Capital Programme. We already have an outstanding track record in delivering primary schools through some of our existing long term framework arrangements. We have assisted a number of local authorities with their programmes and planning this work stream, strategic estate strategy and delivery of built assets.

Free Schools
Free Schools are all-ability state-funded schools set up in response to parental demand. Under the new proposals it will become much easier for charities, universities, businesses, educational groups, teachers and groups of parents to get involved and start new schools. The Academies Bill, which paves the way for these changes, is currently being debated in the House of Commons and a decision is expected after the summer recess of 2010.
Our vast experience with delivering schools allows us to provide tried and tested advice to this emerging market and through collaboration with our joint venture Place Group we are able to offer a diverse and comprehensive service offer including:
- Education and curriculum advice
- Staff recruitment and TUPE transfer
- Feasibility studies including the search and identification of potential sites from schools, existing site development proposals and concept feasibility analyses
- Suitability, sufficiency and stock condition audits on existing buildings
- Design procurement and delivery of building works, operation and maintenance programme planning
- Multi-disciplinary design services
- Project and programme management
- Planning submission and applications, including change of use
- Construction
- Construction and Design Management Coordination (CDM-C)
- Cost and financial management
