New town plan
Land Securities is redeveloping a former chalk extraction site into a new town called Ebbsfleet and Mace provided vital preconstruction and planning services on this massive ‘new town' development near Dartford in Kent.
Mace was engaged to undertake a programming, methodology, risk and environmental assessment in order to support the town planning application. The development comprises over 8,000 residential homes, more than a 1,000,000 ft2 of commercial office space, the construction of a new town centre including leisure, schools and retail, along with major infrastructure works. Site preparation will involve in excess of 12 million cubic metres of soil relocation and site remediation.
Bisected by the channel tunnel rail link, the project includes the integration of the new Ebbsfleet International CTRL station, new local railway lines and stations, and the possible introduction of the new CrossRail line and station.
On this commission, Mace used its considerable preconstruction skills and experience of programming large and complex projects. We were able to set the project plan in place, looking at timescales and phasing to assist the developer in their overall development appraisal, plus understanding the overall timescale and what needed to be done when in order to achieve this.
Features:
• Short term commission to support planning application
• Development includes residential, retail, transportation, infrastructure, commercial and road works
• Construction of a new town
• Interface with Channel Tunnel Rail Link
