Phil Butler of the waster sector team, has had an article published in the Institution of Civil Engineer's 'Civil Engineering Proceedings' publication. The article describes some key lessons learned on waste projects undertaken by the team to date. The waste sector team is gradually gaining a reputation for helping its local authority clients make significant step changes in the way they manage their waste.

The article is based on a lessons learned workshop that the team ran to capture its recent experiences in managing a number of local authority projects with the intention of disseminating the information across all projects currently underway.

In practice, the workshop format helped the team identify some key considerations for any organisation embarking on a major infrastructure project but without the necessary experience, background or skills to hand. The lessons learned were therefore used as the basis for Phil's article on building a client team, setting processes, planning, reporting and project leadership.

The full article is available in the lastest issue of ICE's Civil Engineering Proceedings.
