Mace's Ropemaker project team wins Considerate Constructors award

27/04/2009
Mace construction operations director Dean Emblin collected a Silver Considerate Constructors award on behalf of the whole Ropemaker team at a ceremony held at the Gibson Hall, City of London. Over 7,000 projects across the country were deemed eligible for an award, however only 3% were deemed worthy of a 2009 Silver or Gold award. Dean acknowledged the support of the whole team but paid particular tribute to the tireless work of Barry Beck in engaging with both the workforce (of up to 750) and with the local community.
George Humfrey, Considerate Constructor monitor, summed up the achievement of Dean and his team at the end of one of the project inspections by saying "It is always a pleasure to visit a site that excels...." and ended with: "Worthy of being amongst the best sites I have visited and an excellent example to those passing the project of how good the industry can be. Well done to everybody from operatives up."
Mace project director Jonathan Foster said "The award is all the more impressive when you consider that the site is bounded by the highway on all four elevations and our neighbours include the Barbican, Slaughter & May, JP Morgan, Linklaters and many others."
ESH operations director Andy Brown said, "The Considerate Constructors Scheme offers construction businesses a practical way to demonstrate their corporate responsibility values. As associate members of the scheme and by registering all projects for the scheme's 'Code of Considerate Practice', Mace clearly demonstrates that it cares about the workforce and the communities we operate in. We now need to elevate the profile of these awards to ensure that Mace increases their presence year on year."
