Mace Living hosts architectural tour

29/07/2009
Mace Living has hosted its first architectural tour of London for clients including representatives from The Hilton and Radisson Edwardian hotels, Sprunt, Peter Dann, Glebe and APS. Guests braved Piccadilly in London on a wet and windy day to be treated to a look at the remarkable achievements of some of London's most celebrated architects, responsible for rebuilding the Piccadilly area between 1910 and 1915.
Led by architect and lecturer Benedict O'Looney, the tour began at Alfred Gilbert's Eros statue in Piccadilly Circus. The group drew quite a crowd as Benedict began with his customary chalk drawings on the pavement to illustrate what the area might once have looked like. The tour continued up Piccadilly with short stops along the way to learn more about the history of some of the most famous buildings including The Ritz, the Royal Academy and Waterstones (originally Simpsons, one of the UK's leading clothing stores that opened in the 1930's).
The tour was enjoyed by all and the evening was rounded up drying off and networking over a few drinks.
