Mace Celebrity Cricket Challenge returns!

22/04/2010
Mace is delighted to host the second ‘Mace Group Celebrity Cricket Challenge' in aid of WaterAid at the BritOval on Wednesday 14 July 2010.
Last year's event proved a storming success, with some great cricket being played and fun had by all. Over the course of the day we raised more than £30,000 for WaterAid to contribute to their fantastic work around the world bringing safe water to thousands of people.
WaterAid enables the world's poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education. Our vision is of a world where everyone has access to these basic human rights which underpin health, education and livelihoods and form the first, essential step in overcoming poverty.
The Mace Celebrity Cricket Challenge will see teams take on the Bunburys, the world's number one celebrity cricket team, for the second year running. The Bunburys founded by David English MBE, includes famous cricketers and sporting celebrities. Guests at last year's event were playing alongside cricketing legends Mark Ramprakash and Phil de Frietas.
Mace utilities director, Andy Sharples said: "This year's event will be as successful, if not more so, than last year. I can't wait to get on the wicket!"
The event is limited to twelve teams and companies confirmed so far include Scottish Water and Thames Water. Each team will consist of six players who will play three games each throughout the day, with the winning team playing against a full Bunburys team for the trophy.
The final against the Bunburys will take place at 5.30pm and if last year was anything to go by it will be a tense and dramatic battle to claim the title of winners of the challenge.
New Civil Engineer is the media partner for the event and will provide coverage of the day.
