12/11/2009
The Bridge Academy in Hackney has won the SCALA (Serving Construction & Architecture in Local Authorities) Civic Building of the Year Award 2009.
Judges commended the school building for its inspirational design which makes excellent use of a small, challenging site. The creative use of natural light with the tiered sectional form allows maximum use to be made of every square metre of space. Overall they said it was 'conceptually stunning.'Â
Project architect was BDP and director, Keith Papa said: "The award is testament to the hard work of all those who helped make The Bridge Academy a reality."
Mace Plus managing director, Mark Castle said: "The Bridge Academy was a great project for Mace Plus to work on, we are proud to have been involved in this truly inspirational learning environment."
