Mace uses BIW collaboration software

In line with our approach to the use of best in class software, we have a range of applications that help us deliver projects more effectively.

We use a number of tools from the UK's market leader in collaboration systems, BIW technologies. These tools help us in the field of drawing and document collaboration, change management, drawing approvals, tendering, defects management and NEC contract management.

The tool set is used extensively across the Mace group with the vast majority of our projects adopting some elements of the BIW tool set.

Having introduced the BIW system to projects in 2001 we have continued to work with BIW to develop the system to reflect our core delivery processes. We use the tools on projects across the world from the UK to Russia to the UAE.

Some key projects that have used the tools are as follows:

Shard London Bridge

Ropemaker

20 Fenchurch Street

City Hall London

RBS Gogarburn

In addition to the BIW tool set Mace also uses its own home bred Project Management System (PMS). This application has been developed since the early 1990's and provides a wide of range of tools for managing all aspects of project costs. It has an extensive range of cost reports tailored to client requirements. Also it has tools for tracking documents and defects on small projects where the use of the BIW system is not appropriate.
