Role: Regional Director, Middle East

Ian joined Mace in 1998 as a director of Consulmace Lda in Portugal. He was appointed to the international Mace board in 2001 and became a shareholder of the Mace Group in 2008.

Ian trained as a quantity surveyor and spent his early years at Northcroft Neighbour and Nicholson managing projects in Southampton, Portugal and Brazil. The Portuguese team built up a tremendous reputation for strong focused management delivering projects for clients such as Sonae, Holmes Place and Banco Espirito Santo.

In 2003 Ian relocated to Dubai to join Mace's Middle East team, initially on the Jumeirah Beach Residences project for Dubai Properties, at the time the largest project undertaken by the group at at £900m, the largest single phase residential development in the world. The 22 million square foot development incorporates 40 high rise towers and four levels of mixed use podium. Through the team's close relationship with Dubai Properties, Mace now manages a further £3.5 billion worth of construction.

He is now jointly responsible with group board director Marcus Burley for leading a 400 plus team managing projects across the middle east worth £13 billion.
